Semantic Integration of Conceptual Schemes

Our goal is to work out an integration process which makes it possible to give a global design scheme obtained from several schemes, each of them describing the same reality viewed in different ways, in order to obtain the fullest view. Problems and conflicts arise during the scheme integration. They are due to the several ways of representing the knowledge semantic and of structuring knowledge (using a same design model). When the detection and solution of structural problems are model dependent, the detection and solution of semantic problems are not model dependent. To represent the semantic of the words which are used in a scheme, we have defined a model of thesaurus drawn from the domain dealing with the meaning of words : linguistics. In this paper, we will show the interest of using this fuzzy thesaurus when design scheme are being integrated. Résumé Le mécanisme d’intégration de schémas proposé permet de concilier plusieurs conceptions établies en parallèle et représentant un même monde réel. L’intégration doit résoudre les conflits structurels et sémantiques. Le premier type de conflit est dépendant du modèle de représentation utilisé alors que le second ne l’est pas. Pour prendre en compte la dimension sémantique des schémas lors de l’intégration, nous avons conçu un thésaurus flou, dont la construction est à rapprocher des travaux réalisés en linguistique. Cet article montre l’intérêt de l’utilisation d’un tel thésaurus pour intégration de schémas de conception.
